AIC pledges further support for Basque FORMULA STUDENT teams

Renews agreement for third year in support of future professionals in the automotive industry | 18/06/2012

Bilbao, 18.6.2012--- For the third year running, AIC-Automotive Intelligence Center Chairman and Biscay Provincial Council chief executive José LuIs Bilbao renewed the cooperation agreement with Formula Student Teams in the Basque region (Formula Student Bizkaia-Bilbao Higher School of Engineering and Tecnun Motorsport from the province of Guipúzcoa). The agreement is designed to support and promote future automotive industry professionals.

With the renewal of the original agreement, AIC signals its desire to continue promoting knowledge, training and research in the automotive industry, concentrating in particular on the new generations of engineers coming onto the labor market from university.

For AIC, the initiative is a way of encouraging university students to hone and improve their management, design, production and marketing skills and talents, basically by getting them to develop their own vehicles within the automotive industry itself.

At the same time, AIC looks to ensure Formula Student teams work together to become more competitive, to reduce costs and to learn to work in teams, in effect the ideal training for the future that awaits them in the industry.

Formula Student is a learning program organized by IMechE (Institution of Mechanical Engineers) in the UK to develop the engineering talents of the future. More than 100 universities from all over Europe, from the USA and Australia take part in the program.

AIC-Automotive Intelligence Center is an open innovation center integrating knowledge, training, technology and industrial development under one umbrella in a major bid to improve competitive levels in the automotive industry. AIC is a foundation promoted and backed by Biscay provincial Council, Amorebieta-Etxano and Ermua city halls, a group of leading-edge firms from the local automotive industry and Basque automotive cluster ACICAE.
