BMW purchasing Vice-President visits AIC
Sees at first hand capabilities of Basque automotive industry and AIC-Automotive Intelligence Center | 10/01/2011Bilbao, 10.1.2011--- BMW Purchases Vice-president and Board member Dr. Herbert Diess today visited AIC-Automotive Intelligence Center to find out at first hand about AIC capabilities and those of the Basque automotive industry as a whole.
During the visit, Dr. Diess met 70-plus managers and executives from the Basque automotive industry to discuss the German carmakers current and future projects and talk about the requirements for becoming a BMW strategic ally.
The initiative arose out of the interest Dr. Diess showed last September at the Basque Suppliers Day in Munich in the new open innovation model implemented at AIC, where industrial companies, research centers, training centers, engineering firms and consultants live and work together to generate value for the automotive industry.
Since its inauguration in January 2009, AIC has received several testimonials highlighting its pioneering, innovative nature in the automotive industry from, among others, the European Commission, the ACEA-association of vehicle makers, the Financial Times and Spanish savings bank La Caixa.
AIC is a foundation promoted and backed by Biscay Provincial Council, Amorebieta-Etxano and Ermua city halls, a group of leading edge firms from the automotive industry and Basque automotive cluster ACICAE. AIC integrates knowledge, technology and industrial development under one umbrella in a bid to improve competitiveness in the industry.@font-face {
