Opens center for automotive excellence and specialization | 19/11/2014

Bilbao, 19.11.2014–– Festo today inaugurated the Festo AutoMotion Center (Festo AMC), a center of excellence and specialization in automotion, at the AIC-Automotive Intelligence Center.

Present at the inaugurational event were Bizkaia Provincial Council executive for Economic Promotion Imanol Pradales, and Dr Ansgar Kriwet, member of the Festo management board, together with other representatives from both organizations.

As part of its cooperation with the leading players in the sector, Festo AMC is looking to develop innovative and efficient products and solutions to improve client productivity, safety and sustainability, by satisfying the needs of the automotive industry and overcoming the challenges it faces. Specialized training is also a key feature of the new initiative, which will also concentrate on providing and developing learning programs designed to turn out highly qualified professionals.

To do this, Festo plans an initial one million-euro investment that includes a six-member multi-disciplinary team specializing in automotion. Working from AIC, the team will hook up with the group’s worldwide industry-oriented activities.

German multinational Festo was founded in 1925. With turnover of €2,240 million, it employs 16,000 people in 64 countries. R&D investment accounts for 9% of turnover. Festo is a world benchmark in industrial automation, learning systems and technology-related training.

Promoted by Bizkaia Provincial Council, Amorebieta-Etxamo and Ermua city halls, a group of cutting-edge automotive companies and Basque automotive cluster ACICAE, the AIC foundation provides a single umbrella for know-how, training, technology and industrial development initiatives designed to improve competitive levels in the automotive industry.
